Archieval Paint Application
|
|
|
As a result of the degradation of certain paintings
by painters such as Andy Warhol, David Hockney and other
contemporary artists, the issue of quality has become
paramount among professional painters and collectors.
When purchasing contemporary art for investment value,
it is essential to ensure that the work is of an archival
standard.

|
Archival standard is achieved where the surface (canvas)
and the medium (oil paint) are acid free and of sufficient
quality that, with the proper layering techniques, the
resulting work will last between 300 to 500 years before
minor correctable surface degradation begins to appear.Archival
preparation is my chosen method of painting. |

|
Referred to by painters and collectors as "the
good stuff", archival quality paintings reveal
the lustre and glow of oils while the warm veneer of
resins adds a quality to the colour that no lesser standard
can meet. With archival quality paintings, the pigment
and hue will sustain their lustre for many years if
cared for properly. The paint that I use is made by a
Dutch founded company (Gamblin) who use only natural
formulas with no artificial stabilizers.

I hope that the consideration and care that I give
to the painting and the process reflects the deep passion
that I feel for the subject, the process and the results.
And finally, I hope the people will share this same
adoration of art.
