To order available reproductions please use
contact info. Subject to certain restrictions,
there are four hand-embellished reproductions of each original
painting available for sale. The four hand-embellished authenticated
Giclee ('Zeeclay') reproductions (www.digitalfineart.com),
are made to canvas at any requested size (max 5ft x 10ft,
min 12"x16").
I authenticate each reproduction with surface glazing adjustments,
a finish coat, a new signature and thumbprint. Two of the
reproductions may go to local charity auctions. The artist
holds one and last is for private sale by a gallery or by
the artist. Reproductions are beneficial to the owner of the
original painting because the additional exposure of the image
to the public increases the value of the original painting.
The Artist benefits from the notoriety of the public exposure
and the sale of the last copy, subsidizes the expense of the
original painting. There can be no further
hand-embellished authenticated reproductions made by the artist.
The owner may create reproductions for their own use but not
for resale.
Process of reproduction.
* A professional arts photographer (weekesphoto@telus.net)
takes a (4"x5"inch) slide transparency of the original
painting.
* A digital specialist scans the (4"x5") slide transparency
to make a digital format file. The scan specialist then adjusts
the file to match the original colour, tone and hue of the
(4"x5"inch) slide transparency.
* The digital format file along with the original painting
is then taken to a reproduction specialist (artisan@wadecanada.com).
The digital file is then recalibrated even further by running
varied test prints until the complete balance of print to
original painting is achieved. This image is then reproduced
on to canvas, remounted on to stretcher bars and given a protective
coating.
* The reproduction and original painting are then taken to
the artist studio where the artist repaints the transparent
colours and details on the reproduction followed by a final
glaze coating to reestablish the saturation and resonance
of the original painting. I also roll my thumbprint into the
wet glaze layer, before it dries, to ensure complete authenticity.
* The signature is then repainted and an additional term of
"(1 of 4), (2 of 4,) etc" - depending on the copy
number, 4 being the limit - is added to the front and rear
of the canvas.
The cost of the reproduction is estimated by dividing the
original value of the painting by four, with adjustments depending
on the size of the reproduction. Due to the limit on the number
of reproductions, their value will increase along with the
value of the original painting.
