Gideon Flitt Artist and Hairstylist
British-born painter Gideon Flitt came to Canada
in 1985. A London-trained hair stylist by trade, he took his
first step onto the commercial art scene at 16, when he sold
a series of pencil sketches. The self-taught artist learned
his craft by emulating works by Rossetti, Sargent, and Dali.
When he's not painting, Gideon designs installation sculptures
for The Room, his Kitsilano hair salon and studio, and plays
the cello. An urban animal at heart, his concessions to Vancouver's
sporting life include teeing off at UBC and flying stunt kites
at low tide on Spanish Banks. "There is only one difference
between a madman and me.I am not mad." (Dali)
